Dr. Madan Jagasia, M.B.B.S, M.S

Dr. Madan Jagasia is a hematologist-oncologist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, USA.  


Dr. Jagasia’s area of specialization is in the treatment of hematological malignancies and stem cell transplantation.       

Primary field of research:  

Experimental therapeutics and clinical research in graft-versus-host disease, both acute and chronic. Identifying biomarkers to predict response and outcome of GVHD.

Sophie Paczesny, MD, PhD

 Dr Paczesny received her MD and PhD from Paris University, France, where she completed her residency and fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation. With her responsibilities at Indiana University and affiliations with the Simon Cancer Center, Wells Center for Pediatric Research, Department of Pediatrics, and Department of Immunology, and is pursuing her research of discovery and validation of biomarkers of complications post-transplantation as well as bring new targeted therapies to the clinic and explore novel pathways in GVHD.

Steven Z. Pavletic, M.D., M.S

Dr. Pavletic received his M.D. from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in Croatia in 1979. In 1992, he completed a clinical fellowship in bone marrow transplantation at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington Medical School in Seattle, WA. In 1995, he completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, NE, and completed his hematology and oncology fellowship in June 1997.

Mohamad Mohty MD, PhD

Professor Mohty obtained his medical degree from the University of Montpellier, France, and PhD from the University of Marseille, France. Before moving to Paris, he was head of the Transplant Program at the University-Hospital of Nantes,France. He also undertook post-doctoral work at the Haematology Department, Imperial College,Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK .


  • Professor Mohty’s translational research activity is focused on the pathophysiology of graft-vs-host disease and the immunobiology of normal and pathological antigen-presenting cells, especially the impact of novel immunomodulatory agents such as IMiDs and hypomethylating agents. 
  • He has a special clinical focus on the development of reduced-toxicity conditioning regimens, immunotherapy and different aspects of therapy of multiple myeloma.

Professor Diana Greenfield, PhD, BSc (Hons), RN, Cert Ed

Professor Diana Greenfield graduated with a degree in Nursing from Bristol Polytechnic in 1988 and was a staff nurse in London and Australia before moving to Sheffield, UK. She also qualified in Endocrine nursing and Oncology and holds certificates in Education and Advanced Practice. Her principal focus has been the day-to-day provision and strategic development of survivorship and late effects services for childhood cancer, young adult cancer and bone marrow transplant survivors in the Sheffield, North Trent and the wider region.

  • Physical and psychological late effects in survivors of cancer treatment and BMT, including metabolic syndrome.
  • Return to work and physical activity after cancer.

Mahmoud Aljurf, M.D., MPH

Dr. Mahmoud Aljurf is the Director of Adult Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant Program, Deputy Director of the Oncology Center at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center has one of the world largest centers for HSCT of allogeneic type. Currently, the center performs 250 allogeneic cases per year.   

Dr Aljurf received his M.D. degree in 1985. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston and combined Hematology & Oncology Fellowships at Stanford University Medical Center. He also received Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins University and FRCPath from UK.

Dr. Shahrukh Hashmi is a supplementary consultant in the Hematology Division of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA and also the Director of the BMT survivorship program at King Faisal Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Hélène Schoemans, M.D

Dr. Hélène Schoemans is a haematologist and bone marrow transplant physician currently working at the University Hospitals of Leuven, Belgium. 

She completed her training in 2009 in Belgium. She also had the chance to gather her expertise through international internships in the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (Canada), the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview and the NIH-NCI (National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute), USA.    

She is fully trained as a coordinator clinical studies according to GCP-ICH E6 (R2) . She is also  an active member of the Belgian Hematological Society (BHS), the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and the PCORI (Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute).

Dr. Bipin Savani is a hematologist in Nashville, Tennessee, USA and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Tennessee Valley Healthcare System and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr Sean Robinson Smith, MD

Dr. Smith is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is the Medical Director of Cancer Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. 


Evaluating and managing functional impairments in patients with a history of cancer, including:

Jacqueline S. Drouin, PT, PhD

 Professor Drouin is a physical therapist and exercise physiologist. She currently teaches coursework to graduate and post-professional physical therapy students at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan USA. Her research focus is metabolic testing and exercise training for individuals with cancer. Professor Drouin’s research contributes to clinical practice guidelines for individuals in this population.

Dr Arun Alfred is  Consultant Haematologist based at the The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust ,South Yorkshire,U.K. His team provide a regional Photopheresis service for the treatment of GvHD . Working closely with the referring centers the team are  are actively involved in managing patents with GvHD, treating both adult and pediatric patients.

Zinaida Peric, MD, PhD

Zinaida Peric received her MD and PhD at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She undertook clinical fellowship at the University Hospital Centre Nantes and research training at National Institute for Health and Medical Research (INSERM) Nantes, France. 

She is currently working as a hematologist /transplant physician at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University Hospital Centre Zagreb and a postdoctoral research assistant at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb.

Tamara Vukic, MD, PhD

Dr Tamara Vukic works as a Attending Physician at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Orthopedics Devices at University Hospital Center Zagreb. She is involved in clinical research and have published and presented in the field of rehabilitation medicine. She is also involved in the education of Medical Students and Residents. 


  • She is a member of the CGVHD multidisciplinary team evaluating cGVHD patients on the University Hospital Center Zagreb protocol.
  • Her particular clinical interest is rehabilitation of amputee patients and cancer rehabilitation.

Shaza graduated from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy at LaTrobe University, Australia in 2011 and completed training as a level 1 lymphoedema therapist in 2012. She has been working as an oncology physiotherapist since 2012 at two hospitals in Melbourne, Australia.  She strives to develop research skills and initiate important research to directly impact patient care.

  • She is currently the senior physiotherapist in hematology, bone marrow transplantation and palliative care at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia.
  • Whilst the majority of Shaza’s career has been working clinically, she has a strong interest in clinical research and is currently studying a Masters of Philosophy by Research (MPhil) degree alongside her clinical work. 


  •  Since commencing her research, Shaza has already been able to increase awareness about the importance of exercise in cancer and the need for improved services, particularly in the allogeneic bone marrow transplant population, through Australia-wide public engagement via television news and through several conference presentations. 

M.S.Satish, PT

M.S.Satish graduated from Tamilnadu Dr.MGR Medical university, is a senior Physiotherapist in the field of onco-rehabilitation from India. He has been working as an oncology physiotherapist since 2003, at Cancer institute (WIA), Chennai, India. He designs exercise protocols to Address Cancer Through Individualized Exercises (ACTIVE). He is also pursuing his doctorate in Physiotherapy-Psycho- Oncology (Inter disciplinary) at Madras university.

Nnenna Nina Chigbo, PT, HHHF, MPH, MNSP, MISEI

Nnenna Nina Chigbo  is a graduate of Medical Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) from the University of Nigeria and has a Masters Degree in Public Health from Imo State University.  Nnenna designs exercise protocols for patients with deranged immune systems and manages patients in palliative care.

  Anne Gonzales has been practicing pediatric physical therapy since 2005 when she graduated from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  Anne has experience in the outpatient, clinic, home based and inpatient physical therapy setting
